March Madness in Dallas Just Got Better! Free Concerts!

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will do a FREE (yes, you read that correctly) concert on Sunday, April 6 as part of the NCAA’s March Madness Music Festival. The band will pay at the site of the old Reunion Arena and preliminary plans have the stage facing downtown. Talk about an awesome view!

This is a non-ticketed event, but it will be first come, first serve. The Reunion Arena area can hold between 30,000-40,000 people. And come on, The Boss is playing – so it’s expected there will be long lines, a heavy police presence, crowded DART trains and limited parking. Social media will play an important role in letting people know what to expect with the crowds, how to get there and parking situations.

March Madness Concert Lineup

Fun is scheduled to open for Springsteen on Sunday. On Friday, April 4, Jason Aldean will headline the AT&T Block Party. Tim McGraw and The Killers are among those scheduled to headline the Coke Zero Countdown on Saturday, April 5. Don’t like any of these bands, don’t fear, Turner Live Events and the NCAA will announce more supporting bands in coming days!

Charlotte Jones Anderson, chair of the 2014 NCAA Final Four Championship organizing committee, said, “We expect it to be packed. The Dallas Police Department is ready and on alert to know when you get a name like Bruce Springsteen, that draws huge crowds.”

Dallas Police Department, Dallas Fire-Rescue, Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Dallas City Hall all have been planning this for a while and they hope for a smooth concert-going and March Madness experience. The Texas Department of Transportation is encouraging festivalgoers to use DART’s light rail in an effort to “funnel” them through Union Station and that they plan to add additional DART trains and extend service times.

Tentative Schedules for the Concerts:
Friday, April 4: Jason Aldean at the AT&T Block Party from 4:00 – 10:30pm
Saturday, April 5: Tim McGraw and the Killers at the Coke Zero Countdown from 12:00 – 9:00pm
Sunday, April 6: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Reunion Arena from 2:00 – 10:30pm
